Nihao Routes (nihaoroutes.com) is an independent website about traveling in China. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Your trip request. When you send the trip form we receive what you enter: your name, email, cities, dates, group size, preferences and any notes, plus the optional country and phone number.
- Your confinement center request. The confinement center form also asks, if you choose, for your due date or the baby's birth date, where the baby is being born, and your city, length of stay and budget. Anything you write in the notes may include health details. We ask you not to send medical records through the form.
- Where you came from. On your first visit your browser stores one line in its local storage: the site that sent you (for example google.com), the page you landed on and the date. It stays on your device and is only sent to us with a trip request.
- Basic technical data. Our host, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses to deliver the site and block abuse. We use your IP address briefly to limit how many requests can be sent from one connection.
We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Why we use it
Only to answer your request: we read it and pass it to one licensed partner travel agency in China, whose trip designer replies to you by email. The agency uses your details to plan and quote your trip. If you book, your contract and the agency's own privacy terms apply.
A confinement center request goes to one partner company in China, whose coordinator replies to you by email. We only pass it on with your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. If you book a stay, the company's and the center's own privacy terms apply.
Our partners are in mainland China, so your request is sent there.
Who sees it
- The Nihao Routes team.
- One partner travel agency or confinement center coordinator in China, for the request you sent.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and delivers the request to our inbox.
We don't sell or rent your details and we don't add you to a mailing list.
How long we keep it
We keep trip requests for up to 24 months, so we can help if you come back with questions, then delete them.
Your choices
Email [email protected] to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. We'll also ask the partner that received your request to delete it.
